The Motown-Family – Soul went Disco, Disco, Disco…styled and hyped – 24 Hour Hitsville U.S.A. , Motor City goes Rap Von TINA KAROLINA STAUNER

The Miracles sind The Matadors. Und Smokey Robinson Vizepräsident der Firma. Frühe Songs, im United Sound Studio aufgenommen, stammen von Marv Johnsons, Mable John, Mary Wells und Barrett Strong.

Namhafte Motownkünstler sind The Supremes mit Diana Ross, Little Stevie Wonder, The Temptations, The Marvelettes, Marvin Gaye, Four Tops. »Mowest«, die Filiale in Hollywood wird eröffnet. Mit The Jackson Five beginnt Michael Jackson seine Karriere.
Unter Vertrag sind Lionel Richie, The Commodores, Teena Marie, MichaelMcDonald. Motown gleitet stark auf Disco-Niveau. Nach dem Jahr 2000 sind Erykah Badu, Damian und Stephen Marley wichtig für das Label. Just to name a few.

»Marvin, he was a friend of mine / And he ould sing a song…/…Gonna be some sweet sounds…«
(Commodores)

Ein Dokumentarfilm ›Standing in the Shadows of Motown‹ präsentiert die Band-Geschichte.

»Crystal Bling & Motown Sing«…

»…Towards the end of sixties the Motown sound became more polished and heavily orchestrated. To me, the true Motown sound consisted of a driving bass and drum beat, a dominant tambourine and a beefy baritone sax break. Although my interest in Motown was on the wane, one or two records still caught my interest, for instance – ›My Cherie Amour‹ by Stevie Wonder and ›It’s a Shame‹ by the Spinners…« (Roger Smith)

Motown im Rap-Flow

»…Take my shoes and walk a mile…«
(Migos)

Aktuell ist ›Walk It Talk It‹ (ft. Drake) auf ›Culture II‹ von Migos. Die 2013 mit ›Versace‹ ihre Debüt-Single herausbrachten. Trap-Pop und Vibes. Motown heute.

Words Don’t Come Easy: New Album Reviews

Music | Bittles’ Magazine: The music column from the end of the world After a summer filled with festivals, the act of listening to music in the sanctuary of your own home can appear a little strange. For a while every summer I briefly conclude that the best way to appreciate the bands or DJs that you love is while standing in a mud strewn field with ten thousand other people while the rain lashes down on your head.
