rosanne-cash-the-river-thread-350Thematisch zeigte sie speziell Interesse an der Kultur der amerikanischen Südstaaten und auch an Politischem wie dem sogenannten »New Deal«. Sie fand sich also auch in der Tradition des Delta-Blues und des sogenannten Protestsongs und nicht nur in schönen, idyllischen Country-, Folk- und Rocksongs.

Teils nimmt sie den Sound von Swamp, Gospel oder Appalachian Folk mit hinein. Wichtiger Mitstreiter bei der Einspielung von ›The River & The Thread‹ war der exzellente Gitarrist, Multiinstrumentalist und Produzent John Leventhal, der auch ihr Partner ist. Und es tauchten namhafte Gastmusiker auf wie  Kris Kristofferson, Tony Joe White, John Prine und Rodney Crowell auf. Die fast 60-jährige Rosanne Cash präsentierte sich einmal mehr ungemein kraftvoll und mesmerisierend mit berührendem und erlesenem Songmaterial. Natürlich ist sie weiterhin selbstbewusst in den Fußstapfen ihres namhaften Vaters als Musikerin eine markante Persönlichkeit in der Countryszene.
